What Are Allergy Test Panels?

Allergy test panels help evaluate the IgE-type antibodies that a person has developed against specific allergens. With the Euroimmun test panels used in our laboratory, sensitivity to food and respiratory allergens can be investigated. This evaluation supports the diagnosis and follow-up process in patients with suspected allergy.

Which Panels Are Available?

  • Food Allergy Panel

Helps evaluate common food allergens such as eggs, milk, wheat, hazelnuts, fish, seafood, fruits and vegetables.

  • Respiratory Allergy Panel

Helps evaluate sensitivity to pollen, house dust mites, molds, animal dander and other allergens encountered through inhalation.

EUROIMMUN

Which Test Do We Use?

IgE-type antibodies developed against allergenic substances are investigated by performing an allergy test on a blood sample taken from the patient. The Euroimmun test (Germany) is used in our laboratory. Antibodies called IgE are very important in the development of allergy. The diagnosis of allergy is also based on investigating whether specific IgE antibodies against the allergen are present in the patient's body. Immunoglobulin E (IgE) is a protein associated with allergic reactions and is normally present in the blood in very small amounts. As a component of the body's immune system (an antibody), IgE serves a defensive function against invaders. If a person is allergic to a substance, the level of Immunoglobulin E (IgE) against that substance is high in their blood. The allergens commonly encountered in our laboratory are divided into 2 different panels: the food panel and the respiratory panel.
