CIRCUMCISION FORESKIN

CIRCUMCISION FORESKIN

What is circumcision?
Circumcision operation is the process of removing the foreskin by applying appropriate surgical methods for medical, cultural or religious reasons. Studies conducted on the foreskin, which is normally disposed  as medical waste immediately after the operation, has shown to contain a  large number of stem cells.
Why is the Foreskin Important?
The foreskin contains many different types of cells. These are fibroblasts, stromal cells, progenitor cells and different types of stem cells. These cells are more advantageous than stem cells obtained from adult human beings because they are younger and do not encounter environmental factors.
Although the circumcision operation can be performed at any age, it is performed before the baby leaves the hospital in the period following the earliest birth. The skin taken after the operation is collected in special solution bottles prepared in sterile conditions. After the collection process is completed, the foreskin is transferred to a special transfer set and delivered to our center and processed for storage.
What is the foreskin processing method?
The foreskin, which are delivered to the laboratory under appropriate conditions, are taken to the culture process following the necessary quality control procedures. Culture is continued until cells are observed in approximately 6-8 weeks. After the culture process, the cells are taken for long-term storage. In line with the application request of the family and the physician, the foreskin stem cells reproduced in the desired number are transferred to the relevant Center under appropriate conditions.
How long can the foreskin be stored?
Foreskin Stem Cells, which are separated by a special separation method, are stored in -196oC nitrogen storage tanks for years, unless the family declares otherwise, after the necessary quality control tests are completed.

What are the Advantages of Stem Cells Obtained from the Foreskin?
The foreskin can be easily obtained with a painless method with a minor surgical procedure.
Foreskin removal does not cause ethical problems.
The foreskin contains a variety of stem cells.
Stem cells are easy to reproduce.
Stem cells are the least affected by environmental factors, chemical pollutants and harmful substances.
Since they do not cause tissue incompatibility, it is suitable for use by family, relatives and everyone, especially the person to whom the skin belongs, if needed.

What are the Studies with Foreskin and Stem Cells?
Intensive research is being carried out on the use of Foreskin Stem Cells for the treatment of diseases caused by damage to tissues and organs developed from mesenchymal cells such as bone, cartilage, fat, nerve and connective tissue.

• Skin related diseases,
• Diseases related to the scalp,
• Burns,
• Conditions related to tissue and skin loss,
• Diabetic foot,
• Occlusive vascular diseases,
• Nervous system diseases,
• Research studies on its auxiliary role in the treatment of autoimmune diseases continue.
