Current data show that the number of patients infected by resistant bacteria is increasing across the European Union and that antibiotic resistance has become a primary threat to public health. 'Antibiotic resistance' is also on the list of the 10 biggest problems the world will face, identified by the World Health Organization in 2019. The only remedy for stopping the development of resistant bacteria and for keeping antibiotics effective for future generations is the rational use of antibiotics.

Unnecessary antibiotic use, in the community or in hospitals, is the most important reason for microbes to develop resistance. For this reason, correct antibiotic use is very important.

The rules we must follow;

  1. Conscious and rational antibiotic use should be started under the supervision of a doctor.
  2. They should only be used in diseases proven to be bacterial.
  3. Antibiotics should not be stopped early.
  4. Do not keep leftover antibiotics. Do not use them for another illness or a similar illness.
  5. Do not pressure your doctor to prescribe antibiotics
