AMH is short for Anti-Mullerian Hormone. AMH is a hormone whose importance has only been understood in recent years. Until recently, it was thought that the ovaries, which reveal the reproductive function in women, were managed by the hormone called FSH (Follicle Stimulating Hormone), and ovarian functions were followed by FSH.
FSH is a hormone released from the pituitary. AMH is a hormone secreted directly from the ovaries. Therefore, the AMH Test reveals the function of the ovaries better. Due to this function, the AMH Test has been used frequently in determining the fertility capacity of women, measuring ovarian capacity, monitoring the progression to menopause, and making in vitro fertilization decisions. Recently, the AMH test has started to replace FSH.
